Many people go missing every year with the US reporting the highest numbers.
In 2021, the NCIC received over 520,000 missing persons reports. Among these, more than 337,000 reports pertained to youths and were entered into the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Crime Information (NCIC) database.
It is estimated that 2,300 children go missing every day in the US.


Statistics
There is no minimum wait time when a child goes missing.
Abductions can occur with either strangers or acquaintances. In cases involving strangers, females are abducted 64% more often than males. On the other hand, when the abductor is an acquaintance, females are abducted 72% more frequently than males.
